About this course

Welcome to our versatile clay wheel class tailored for participants of all experience levels! Whether you're a seasoned potter or a complete beginner, this class is crafted to meet you where you are in your pottery journey. Our skilled instructors will lead you through an exploration of wheel-thrown pottery, catering to individual skill levels and aspirations. For beginners, you'll delve into the basics, mastering foundational techniques such as centering, shaping, and trimming, gradually building your confidence in creating pottery on the wheel. For those with prior experience, our class offers an opportunity to refine your skills, experiment with advanced techniques, and explore new artistic dimensions in your pottery practice. In this supportive and collaborative environment, you'll have the freedom to express your creativity while receiving personalized guidance and tips from our expert instructors. Join us to expand your pottery repertoire, unleash your creativity, and enjoy the meditative art of wheel-thrown pottery, no matter your proficiency level! Things to know for class: All students will be provided with an apron, however, clay can splatter off the wheel, and may get on some of your clothes, so please come dressed in comfortable clothes that you can wipe with water or easily wash. Loose fitting clothing is recommended as your legs will need to hug the pottery wheel. You can expect to make several pieces during our 8 week class. After you have made your piece on the wheel you will learn how to trim and glaze your pieces to the perfect finished product. You will be given a wide selection of glazes to choose from for each piece you have made. Experienced and trained staff only will handle and fire your ceramic work. However, by the nature of ceramics there is always a risk of technical failure during either firing. Although it is not the usual case for this to happen, please know that we cannot be held responsible for any pieces that do not make it through the firing process, nor will any class credits or refunds be applied. Classes begin promptly as scheduled. During the first 15 minutes of class the instructor will teach the group how to work with the clay on the wheel. After the initial demonstration, the entire group will start together with the Instructor. Instructors will not be able to provide any additional demonstrations for late students.
